Secret Histories provides a professional Undesirable Elements performance and talkback followed by an in-school artistic residency of 10 or more sessions. During the residency, teaching artists work with students to develop a personal narrative and present it in a theatrical performance. The work promotes academic skills and peer understanding through the arts in alignment with the New York City Blueprint For Teaching and Learning in the Arts and Common Core Standards.
Secret Histories is offered for grades 5-12 as multi-week in-school residency for English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Drama classrooms. It is also available as an after-school theater program and as after-school and weekend workshops. Secret Histories teaching artists are professional theater artists and have worked in all 5 boroughs of New York City, around the country, and internationally.
