ARTS & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT APPRENTICESHIP WITH PING CHONG + COMPANY & JAHC
Juneau Arts & Humanities Council, in partnership with the Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Tribes of Alaska and Sealaska Heritage Institute, is hosting the creation of a new interview-based theater production in Juneau, by New York's critically acclaimed Ping Chong + Company. The JUNEAU HISTORIES THEATER PROJECT (working title) will share little-known stories & histories of the Juneau community.
Please join the project! We are seeking an individual with interest and experience in community engagement or social justice work, and/or background in anthropology, performance, or indigenous studies, to assist our team in the upcoming interview process through to the final performances. Activities may include include engaging in and transcribing interviews; conducting research; supporting outreach and coordination; and assisting during rehearsals, performances, and events.
Indigenous people, people of color, and LGBTQ+ are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so please apply as soon as possible!
Interview & research period: January 26 - February 9
Rehearsal & performance period: March 3 - April 3 (approx)
-Duration: ASAP to April 3
-Must be a resident of Southeast Alaska
-Time commitment varies from 10-25 hrs/week; eve & weekend availability necessary
-$500 stipend provided from Ping Chong + Company
