Chinoiserie—where the mysterious East meets the mysterious West. A new work by theatre innovator Ping Chong with music by noted composer Guy Klucevsek and lyrics by Michael Matthews. Chinoiserie spans centuries, continents and cultures and explores the clash of values and perceptions between China and the West. Chinoiserie examines the ironic reversals of power and position in the ever-shifting relations between East and West from the 18th century to the present.

The cast will star Ping Chong, four performers and three musicians. Chinoiserie is commissioned by the Fine Arts Center, in association with Ping Chong & Company, The Yellow Springs Institute, The Walker Art Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Lied Center of the University of Nebraska with the generous support of the AT&T Foundation.
