PING CHONG & COMPANYAFTER SORROW, 1997
By Ping Chong and Company
In Collaboration with Muna Tseng and Josef Fung

AFTER SORROW is an evening-length dance theater work composed of four solos performed by the exquisite Muna Tseng. The first three pieces—L'Histoire Chinoise, Whispers of the Stone and 98.6: a convergence in 15 minutes—form a suite about loss and the obligations owed family and friends; the fourth piece After Sorrow (Viet Nam) is about the legacy of war.

After Sorrow is the third part of Ping Chong's acclaimed East/West Series. It features an original score by Josef Fung performed by pipa virtuoso Wu Man, as well as a dazzling, multi-media production.

Like poems in their simplicity and power to evoke…carefully wrought and beautifully designed.
