A Look Back at SPRING EVENT: A COMMUNION

With the spring season in full swing, we look back to one year ago, last spring, May 2024, when PCC presented our second Artistic Leadership Team (ALT) co-produced event. Spring Event: A Communion, which was imagined as an embodied celebration of ideas, styles, forms, and works-in-progress. Spring Event brought together PCC’s community at Judson Memorial Church for a gathering in the spirit of communion, connection, and joy, celebrating the past and future of PCC’s evolving artistry.

Like our previous ALT event, An Extra Ordinary Afternoon with Ping Chong and Company, this evening was a collaborative curatorial effort designed by the ALT as a collective. Where “Extra Ordinary Afternoon” was a self-styled “marriage,” this was a peek into what is emerging from the transition.

Co-Artistic Leader Nile Harris took on the role of the host and emcee for the evening.

Co-Artistic Leader Mei Ann Teo designed a collective meal ritual in partnership inviting PCC community members to “perform” in the  silent service.

The meal ritual was created in collaboration with Senior Director of Engagement Sara Zatz, who later in the evening created space for conversation.

The evening culminated in the healing space of collaborating artist Diana Oh’s ART CHXRCH. This community gathering gave us the opportunity to notice what is most joyful, easeful, and activated for each of us as artists and collaborators in the context of our work together across the year.
