FIRED UP: Survivor stories of trauma, hope, and change
Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault (Minnesota)
a project of the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault’s HOPE (Honoring Our Personal Experiences) program.
HOPE is a strategy to engage survivors and others with lived experience and is part of the Secret Survivors National Initiative. MNCASA presented three free staged readings of the new theater production at the Pillsbury House Theater in Minneapolis, MN from April 7-12, 2014.
Theater and Writing Workshops
Building on the inspiration from Ping Chong + Company and Secret Survivors, Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MNCASA) offered theater and writing workshops for survivors of child sexual abuse and their loved ones. These workshops were available free for those interested in using their experience to make a difference and to be part of a community working to prevent sexual abuse. Participants did not need previous performance or writing experience, only a story they were willing to share, an open mind to connecting with others with lived experience and a will to generate hope and change. The workshops were a safe place to explore your own personal experiences , with facilitators trained in using arts for healing and social change.
MNCASA offered 3 different workshops. As Brene Brown says “Stories are data with a soul.” Everyone has a story to tell and everyone's stories matter. Workshop dates: April 19-21, 2013 and May 17-19, 2013.
